United Accreditation Body of India (UABI) is an autonomous accreditation body of India. UABI has been established with the objective to provide Government, Industry Associations and Industry in general with a scheme for third-party assessment of the quality and technical competence of testing and calibration laboratories. UABI is having Quality Council of India organizational membership having membership I`d as CORP/CS/6448/2019-20.
In order to achieve this objective, UABI provides laboratory accreditation services to laboratories that are performing tests / calibrations in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017, Reference Material Producers (RMP) as per ISO 17034:2016, Proficiency Testing Providers (PTP) as per ISO 17043:2010 and certification as per Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001:2015. These services are offered in a reasonable time and are accessible to all testing and calibration laboratories and other organization in India, in a non-discriminatory manner regardless of their ownership, legal status, size and degree of independence. In order to work impartially UABI has different management which work for implementaiton of ISO 17025:2017, ISO 17034:2016, ISO 17043:2010 and certification of ISO 9001:2015 in india.
The users have access to information regarding accredited laboratories through website. UABI website is updated continuously with respect to status of accredited laboratories and their scope of accreditation. Suggestions are welcome from users of the website for further improvement.
The operational expenses of United Accreditation Body of India are generated through the service offered. The policies and procedures for accreditation by the UABI are non discriminatory and are implemented uniformly to all applicants and reasonable fee is charged for the service of the accreditation offered.
The UABI complies and operates its management system in line with the requirement of inter- national standard IS/ISO/IEC 17011-2017 (Conformity Assessment - General Requirement for Accreditation Bodies Conformity Assessment Bodies).
The UABI offers the following accreditation and certification to the laboratories for effective operation, to generate reliab le results and international recognition.
Accreditation is the third party attestation related to a conformity assessment body conveying the formal demonstration of its competence to carry out specific conformity assessment task.
Better control of laboratory operations and feedback to laboratories as to whether they have sound Quality Assurance System and are technically competent.
The multi-disciplinary CABs shall have to apply in relevant discipline separately depending upon to which discipline the scope belongs.
